Hello everyone. Tomorrow Jon and I have our first visit with our home study social worker. We are slightly nervous but extremely excited to be progressing through the red tape. We'll meet with her tomorrow (Sat) afternoon and then again on Sun morning. We'll talk about the process and adoption in general. I'm not sure exactly what the whole thing will entail, but from the correspondence we've had I know she'll be very helpful through the whole thing. I'll try to post tomorrow or Sunday to let y'all know how the meetings went.
The other night I had trouble falling asleep because I was thinking about our baby. We've had to do a lot of training and reading to get ready for this process and I've learned what these children actually go through psycologically. Even in the best of orphanages, the children get very little (if any) personal attention. From what I've read, they either learn to scream and scream and scream until they get their needs meet, or they just lay there hopeless, wondering if they'll ever get their diaper changed, or a new bottle, or whatever. It breaks my heart to think that my little one is lying in a crib halfway across the world without his/her mommy there to take care of them. I know this is all in God's timing and plan, but I keep praying that He will comfort my baby and let them know I'm coming as fast as I can. I haven't met my child yet, but he/she is definitely a part of me. I see mothers with their children and my heart flutters because it knows that soon, I will be able to have my child with me. I love my baby so much already, and I know that when I actually meet them, it will be even more profound than I can imagine.
Well, that's my little musing for the day. I really appreciate you taking the time to read these words, because they are truly from my heart. I thank God for all of you and your support. God bless.

Jon and Kristin:
We will be praying for you today and tomorrow.
Kristin: I am especially praying for you. As a mom, I know the feeling of waiting and longing to hold your child in your arms. God will give you the peace as you wait to bring your child home.
We love you,
Shelly
This brought tears to my eyes! It's so neat to see the love you have for a child that you haven't seen or even know yet! I'm praying that God will have the process be fast for you and Jonathan and that baby will be in your arms soon!
Love in Christ-
Destiny
Oh, I love how you described your yearning for your baby. Beautiful! And as Destiny said - so neat to see how much you love him before you even lay eyes on him!! We're all so excited for you... and praying for you!
